How to get to Zutphen?

It’s nice that the Netherlands is more than just Amsterdam, but how do we ever get to Zutphen?

Car 🚗

  • For those living close enough to the Netherlands, it’s easily accessible by car. With the exception of Belgian roads, driving to the Netherlands is easy, thanks to Google Maps.

Plane ✈

  • For those arriving by plane, you can select multiple airports.
Amsterdam (AMS) – Zutphen: 1,5 hour by car, 1 hour 45 minutes by train
Eindhoven (EIN) – Zutphen: 1,5 hour by car, 1 hour 30 minutes by train (first you have to get a bus from Eindhoven airport to Eindhoven Central Station, 15 minutes)
Dusseldorf (DUS) – Zutphen: 1 hour 45 minutes by car, 2 hours by train
Weeze (NRN) – Zutphen: 1,5 hour by car, 2 hours by train
Rotterdam The Hague (RTM) – Zutphen: 1 hour 50 minutes by car, 2 hours by train (first you have to get public tranportation to Rotterdam Centraal Trainstation, 30 minutes)
Others: There are also airports in Groningen and Maastricht. However, these aren’t used very often for passenger flights. Would you like information about traveling from these airports? Let us know.

Public Transportation 🚄🚌🚋

  • (almost) Everywhere in the Netherlands we have public transportation (bus, train, metro, tram). You can pay for this way of transportation to check-in with your bankcard (don’t forget to check-out when leaving)
  • For information of the trains you can use the website from the NS (https://www.ns.nl/)
  • For information of other ways of public transportation you can use (https://9292.nl/)

Important notes:

  • Although the Netherlands is a wonderful, modern, and developed country, we in Zutphen sometimes still lag behind. There are no taxis in Zutphen 🚖, hardly any Ubers, and no electric scooters/bikes 🛴 from Bolt or Lime, etc. If you’re staying at Fletcher Hotel Zutphen, we’ll try to arrange bicycles for you. Please let us know if you’re staying here and would like to use a bicycle.
  • In the Netherlands, each resident has an average of 1.3 bicycles per person, so you’ll see plenty of them here. If you’re cycling yourself, be aware that using your mobile phone while cycling is a punishable offense 👮‍♂️. The fine is €170, excluding a €9 administration fee. Be sensible and stop for a moment when finding your way.
  • Of course, your partner is also very welcome! 💑
